When I got in the car to drive to work this morning, KROQ had an interview going on with some one from the RIAA. The interviewer asked her why you can buy a dvd with interviews, out-takes and other bonus material for the same amount of money as a music cd. What's the deal with reaming the consumer? Her reply was that the cost of cd's has not gone up in the last 2 years and has stayed below the rate of inflation. I think she should file share whatever she's smoking. Last weekend I went out to buy an old Eagles cd, one that I had originally purchased on vinyl. The cost at the first store I went to? $18.99. For a 25 year old cd. Somehow the argument that royalties, advertising and production costs have driven up the price just isn't working for me.
