surfing journal
Nov. 29th, 2003 09:20 pmToday, the surf club had an informal trip to San Onofre. Informal means that the only people who showed up were Gabe, Branislav and me. The lack of company mattered not at all. Bransilav and I car-pooled and hung out. It was a blast. The morning was spotless: blue skies with pretty patterns of clouds, clean water and the cliffs etched in sand stone colors against the sky. This was one of those days that made me realize how really out of shape I've gotten lately. The knee held up pretty well even though I had trouble getting my feet under me in a timely fashion. I almost had 2 perfect drop-ins. This is real progress! Pictures are here.
Tide Report:
Branislav and I arrived at 9:40. Most of the locals started packing up around 9. I guess the surf was stellar from 7-9. But at 10 it was still great although there were long stretches between sets. There was a lull as high tide began to come up and it looked like the surf might die out. Instead, it picked up and there were quite a few good waves from 1-3. We saw a few dolphins in the afternoon.
