In a surprise move today that has left Constitutional experts in
a state of confusion, local corporation Microsoft has filed suit
in Federal court to prevent news agencies and election commissions
from releasing any results of the 2004 election, claiming it is
covered by Microsoft copyright. The claim appears to depend on the
fact that both major campaigns have used Hotmail accounts, which
convey copyright of their communications to Microsoft.
In a news conference, Microsoft leader Bill Gates said, "The results
of the 2004 election are our Intellectual Property, and we have a
duty to defend it."
