yarn

At long last Friday. I've been struggling with a bout of bronchitis for about 10 days now. It's one of those things where you are getting better then suddenly find yourself sicker than you were in the beginning. I rode my bike to work yesterday and was literally wheezing like a 3 pack a day smoker when I got to my desk. It's only a 2.5 mi ride.

I get really down when I'm sick. And so it was. I wasn't feeling well and I found my eyes staring at the empty porch every evening when I got home. I longed for a constant stream of packages coming to my door. So I did what any normal crazy person would do and went out on ebay and bought a ginormous pile of yarn. I have had quite the array of packages being delivered. In my defense, the holidays are coming up and it is part of my gifting. I've found that my knitting has picked up speed recently and I'm blowing through projects far more quickly than I ever used to. Since I first learned how to knit in Jan, 2005, I have wanted to do garment construction. Or in normal people speak, I want to knit sweaters. Sweaters are hard. And they take a long time. Now that I have a little baby, I can practice garment construction in a quick but still useful way. I finished knitting my first baby dress on Monday. I had to frog and redo the bodice so the dress would fit little DG. The straps still aren't right yet. I think I will modify them to include button holes. Then they will be adjustable for size. The pattern was for a 2 yr size, so it's big on her. Still, since I tightened up the bodice, DG should be able to wear it this winter. And if I redo the straps to be adjustable, she'll get a good long stretch of wear out of it. I'll post pictures this weekend.

Meanwhile, the holiday hat/scarf production line has begun.
