running week 5
Mar. 9th, 2011 02:45 pmWell, it's week 5 of my training program. This week we are supposed to bump up to 1.5 miles, so I did that yesterday. It was mardi gras weekend and I missed my run on Monday so I ran yesterday on the treadmill. I usually find it hard to stick to a run on the treadmill but I was armed with my new shuffle (in lime) and newly reunited with my running play list. I've been having ipod issues lately. My old ipod, that I won by writing an article on "why I love solaris" for what used to be www.sun.com, is having disk failure. I have a nano that was gifted to me a year or so ago but I don't much like it. The battery drains quickly (I know, we can fix that) but it's just too much work when you are running to have to drill down thru menus and crap. Ditto for the iphone. The shuffle is really perfect for times when you can't breath but you need to keep your feet moving. Put it on shuffle and just click next if you don't want the song that's on. The simpler the better when I'm suffering. I have to say, this 1/4 mile a week increase is really working for me. I've done run/walk training for the last few years which hasn't worked for me any where near as well. It rained buckets yesterday and this morning. I was hoping the group run would get cancelled today. DG just hates going and it bums me out when she's unhappy.
