I went to the rose parade today. I haven't gone for some years and it was a trip to see how much about it hasn't changed. Aracadia was in the parade this year. The float was small and charming, a replica of queen anne's cottage at the arboretum. And it had the obligatory peacock. I couldn't believe how big the apache marching band and flag drill team were. I wonder how many students go to Arcadia high now, to produce a band that big. I went to the parade with laura and carol and their friends sandy and nadine. It turns out that sandy grew up in arcadia and did K-12 there. She graduated 11 years before I did and had gone to highland oaks and foothills as well. It was kinda cool to figure out what teachers she had that I also had: Mrs. High (who had a different name when she was there), Mr. Zales, Mr. Kidston, Mr. Burnt. She also had rights and responsibilities as a senior, but with a different teacher. Sandy was at arcadia high at the same time stevie nicks was there but had never known that. Nadine gets the glow-worm award of the day for characterizing the apache marching band as the asian-indian marching band.
