The Student Union here on campus sent out a solicitation for entries for a faculty/staff art exhibit back in May.  I promptly deleted that.  A few hours later my husband forwarded the email to me and told me I should enter one of my quilts.  I had been wanting to make a memory quilt of my brother who died back in 2012.  I was afraid to start for a long time but this was the kick in the pants I needed.  Here is my thread portrait art quilt.  I call it "Echos of Jeff."

Thank-you! I'm proud of myself. It was way out on a limb for me to even think this up and do it. And from a purely technical perspective it's much better than I thought I could ever do. Artistically, I have no opinion. I'm too close to it, especially since it is such an emotional subject for me. I probably spent 60 hours on it -- at least half of that time ripping out stitches and re-doing. Naturally, I finished and then thought I should have embedded an arduino controller in it so that you could push a button on the guitar and hear a snip of the led zeppelin riff he was playing at the time. LOL

I was thinking what a beautiful tribute it was -- art made with care is a way I'd want to be remembered. So it's not just you; it's good. [grin]

I didn't realize you quilt. I've done some but nothing that freehand. Or as nice.
