I've been thinking a lot about my new year's resolutions. It looks like my big resolution is running but that isn't quite true. I stated getting serious about taking off the weight last august or september. I've only lost 5 lbs since then, but I did go down a pants size. The resolution part was really to just up my game a bit -- be more consistent about working out. And to lay off the sugar. That's the one that kills me. We just have too much stinking sugar in our house. Last night DG refused to eat dinner and then threw herself on the floor and had a big temper tantrum. When I asked her what she wanted she said, "k-kie." Yes there have been far too many k-kies in the house. No we won't be continuing in that vein.

Actually, my real new year's resolution was to post more. There are words beating at the back of my teeth that want to come out. I just can't seem to open my mouth and let them out. I keep them in and I dwell on them. I keep them in and I think, "Will J be mad at me for saying on my blog if he sees it there?" "Will I expose myself too much if I say this?" It doesn't really matter at this point. I have things that I need to say. I think the running will help to get them out.

My other resolution is to sew more. I've finally realized that sewing is where my creativity lives. I'd like to brush up my skills and get back into practice. I'd like to make some art quilts. I want to make some fun and happy clothes for DG to wear that would have the added bonus of fitting her.

Apropos of nothing, I would really like to know who the genius was that thought babies should wear low riders.

Low rider clothing on anyone, sheesh, who's idea WAS that anyway?

I too am planning on posting more on my lj site. I think I just crossed over the "ten years on live journal" benchmark and it would be interesting to look back and see how my life has changed since I first registered my name here. I do love the potential of posting as much or as little as I want to here, as opposed to the strict limits on Facebook and even more strict text limits on Twitter.

If you lived close to here, I'd come get sewing lessons!

If I lived close to there, I wouldn't be wondering how I'm going to get through the rest of my life being so far away from my friends. Yeah, and I'd teach you how to sew, too. ;)
