I used to read articles like this and just think ew. Now, it freaks me out. How could you not hear the baby crying? How could you not take care about your little baby. I can guess at an answer. For some people, having kids is just an unfortunate inconvenience. An expensive inconvenience. Some people are too stunted inside to do the right thing. Some people are just dumb. But at an emotional level, I truly do not understand how someone could allow such a thing to happen.

That story breaks my heart on so many levels. The poor baby, I'm almost in tears that a parent can have so little love and care for their child, and that child must now live through their entire life with a reminder of that one fateful day when their parent didn't care enough. Sigh.
