my weekend

Saturday, my new running partner never called and I promised a friend I would teach her how to sew a dress from a pattern. She is from Denmark so anything she learned about sewing she learned in a different language and in metric. Little DG was full of piss and vinegar, so we decided to have some family time in the park. J brilliantly suggested we all go and I do my run there while they played. It was so nice. Everyone got out and about. I got my run in. When I finished, I was just in time to help DG learn how to climb one of the ladders on the play structure. She did great going up but couldn't find a way back down again.

I couldn't sleep on Sat. night. Our house is noisy and sound echoes. It's hard to watch tv without waking J. It's hard to do anything upstairs without waking DG. I got out some fabric paints and painted mother-daughter t-shirts for the mardi gras parade at DG's school this Wed. It's called the krewe of tots. The pre-schoolers decorate wagons and then parents pull them around the k-8 school next door. All of the older kids yell "throw me something, mister!" to get their throws.

Before I went back to bed, I mixed up a batch of bread dough. I got this book called My Bread: The Revolutionary No-Work, No-Knead Method. This book is totally worth the price. It gives a method that takes almost no time to create a loaf of bread that is like a rustic Italian boule from a bakery. The recipe is nearly fool proof and every loaf tastes wonderful. If you were ever looking for the perfect transport mechanism for butter, look no further.
