Ah, the holidays. We had our first trip to the emergency room on Saturday. On Friday night J and I moved a round table to the outside patio. The round top was propped up against a wall with a storage bench in front of it. On Saturday morning, DG decided she wanted to "balance" on the top. I didn't see the fall, but she banged both the front and back of her head. A half hour later she was having trouble staying awake, so we did the paranoid thing and took her to a doctor. Aside from a terrible looking goose egg on her forehead, all is well. They were super, super sweet to her at the hospital and she thinks it would be fun to go back.

Good to hear :)

Just curious, when each new doctor or nurse came to see DG, did they ask you what the issue was? When we went, we saw at least three different people and each time we had to explain what was going on. I was wondering if it's protocol to make sure we weren't lying.

We talked to 4 people total -- 2 during triage then the nurse and doctor once we were in a room. We did have to tell the story twice. I think that was because it was hard to describe what happened. Also, having the doctor go over the facts with you usually makes you feel like you have more of a connection with the doctor. There was zero feeling about them looking us over for abuse. I expect some of that is demographics -- we were in the best hospital in town and we were white and middle class. It could also be that CA has had to really crack down on getting the hospitals to be a front line reporting mechanism in a way that doesn't happen here.
